Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information IQPlot collects when you use this website, how it is used, and the choices you have.

IQPlot ("we", "us", "the site") provides an online cognitive self-assessment at iqplot.com. We try to keep data collection to the minimum needed to run the test, show your results, and process an optional payment. This page describes that data and your options.

Information we collect

  • Information you enter. The name you type on the test screen (used to personalize your on-screen report and certificate) and your answers to the test questions and the short demographic survey shown before your result.
  • Information stored in your browser. The items above, your progress through the test, and a flag recording whether you have unlocked the full report are saved in your browser's local storage on your device so a page refresh resumes where you were. This data stays on your device unless you choose to share something (for example, by downloading or sharing your certificate).
  • Usage and device data. Like most websites, we collect standard analytics data through Google Analytics: pages viewed, approximate location (derived from IP address, not stored by us in precise form), device and browser type, referring site, and interactions such as starting the test or reaching the results page.
  • Payment data. If you choose to unlock the full report, payment is handled by our payment processor, Polar. We do not see or store your card number or full payment details. We receive confirmation that a payment succeeded.

How we use information

  • To run the test, score it, and show you your results and certificate.
  • To remember your progress so a refresh or return visit does not reset the test.
  • To process and confirm payment for the optional full report.
  • To understand, in aggregate, how the site is used so we can improve it.
  • To detect, prevent, and respond to abuse, fraud, or technical problems.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your test answers or score for advertising.

Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies and your browser's local storage for two purposes: keeping your test session on your device, and Google Analytics measurement. Google Analytics sets its own cookies to distinguish visitors and sessions. You can clear this data at any time through your browser settings, and you can use a browser extension or setting that opts you out of Google Analytics. Clearing local storage will reset any in-progress test and any record that you unlocked the full report.

Third-party services

  • Google Analytics (analytics). See Google's privacy policy for how Google processes this data.
  • Polar (payment processing for the optional full report). See Polar's privacy policy for how it handles payment information.
  • Google Fonts (web fonts). Loading the fonts involves a request to Google's servers.

These providers process data under their own privacy policies. We do not control their practices.

Data retention

Test answers, your name, and progress are kept in your browser's local storage until you clear it, retake the test, or it expires (after about 30 days of inactivity). Analytics data is retained by Google according to its retention settings. Payment records are kept by our payment processor as required for accounting and legal purposes.

Children

This site is intended for adults. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we will take reasonable steps to remove it.

Your choices and rights

  • You can take the test without entering your real name.
  • You can clear the test data from your device at any time using your browser's settings.
  • You can opt out of Google Analytics using Google's opt-out tools.
  • Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information. Because most of the data lives in your own browser, you can exercise much of this yourself. For anything else, contact us using the address below.

Security

We take reasonable measures to protect the site, and payment processing is handled by a specialized provider over an encrypted connection. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the "last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
